Homework
Recently, there has been a debate about the need for, or the importance of homework. In my class, I utilize homework as a tool for reinforcement or the introduction of new material. I will not assign homework for the sake of assigning homework. I often allow students to begin their homework in class if time permits. You will find the quantity of homework in this course is fair and manageable.
1. The weighting for each marking period is listed at the top of the THIS WEEK page
2. Homework will be assigned on a regular basis and will be printed on the THIS WEEK page and posted in class
3. Homework will be worth either 5, 10, or 15 points depending on the assignment
4. If a student does not have the homework (without a valid reason) in class, on the day it is due, it will count as a zero, there are no make-ups. The only exception is bringing in a signed document for two-thirds credit the next day and one-third credit the following day
5. My policy allows your HW average to go back up if you complete more assignments as the marking period progresses. So, if you get off to a rough start, just keep doing your assignments and your HW average will go up. An example is shown below:
